「有名な」｜「famous」「well-known」「prominent」の違いと使いかた
一般的に「有名な」場合と、卓越して「有名な」場合とでは語を使い分けて表現する。覚えておきましょう。
「有名な」｜「famous」は最も一般的な語
famous は「有名な」の意味を表すときに使われる最も一般的な語。
同窓会の一コマ。
Before I knew it, my friend had become famous in the business world. （知らないうちに友人は業界では有名人になっていた）
世界的指揮者。
The conductor’s name is famous all over the world. （その指揮者の名前は世界中に売れています）

well-known は特にある場所でよく知られていることを表すときに使われる語。
産地として有名。
This area is well-known for growing apples. （この辺りはリンゴの産地として知られています）
観光地。
West Izu is well-known for its scenic beauty. （西伊豆は風景の美しさで知られています）

「有名な」｜「prominent」は卓越している
prominent は少しかたい感じのする語で、他より卓越しておりよく知られていることを表すときに使われる語。
異才の人物が異彩を放つ。
Mr. Niyama is a prominent script writer. （二山氏は脚本家として異彩を放っています）
お花見に参加。
Prominent figures from many fields gathered at the flower-viewing party. （その花見会には各界の名士が集まったのです）
