「見る」｜「observe」「view」の違いと使い方
注意して「見る」こともあり、じっくり「眺める」こともある。英語の言い方を覚えておきましょう。
「見る」｜「observe」は注意深く見る
observe は何かを注意深く見ることを表すときに使われる語。
学問の基本は観察から。 The researchers observed the behavior of Japanese monkeys after World War II. (研究者たちは第二次大戦後ニホンザルの生態を観察しました)
記録をもとに仮説を立てる。 They described in detail what they has observed. (彼らは観察したことを事細かに記述しました)
絵画教室で。 Before drawing a picture, it is important first to observe very carefully the object you intend to draw. (絵を描く前に、まず描こうとする物をよく観察することが大切です)
火山活動。 A minor eruption was observed at Mt. Tokachi in Hokkaido. (北海道の十勝岳で小規模な噴火が観測されました)
「見る」｜「view」は注意深く眺める
view は何かを注意深く眺めることを表すときに使われる語。
月がきれいなとき。 We viewed the moon through an astronomical telescope. (私たちは天体望遠鏡で月を眺めました)
マイホームを求めて。 The young couple went to view the house for sale in the neighboring town. (その若い夫婦は隣町に売りに出されている家を見に行きました)
近代的な街。 The high-rise buildings are much more impressive when viewed from the other side of the river. (その高層ビル群は川の向こう岸から見た方がずっと素晴らしいです)
夏の風物詩。 We view fireworks on the bank of Sumida River every year. (私たちは毎年隅田川の川岸で花火を見物します) ※ firework「花火」 river bank「川岸」
