「買う」｜「buy」「purchase」の違いと使い方
何かを「買う」とき、具体的な品物のこともあり、バイヤーの買い付けのこともある。英語の言い方を覚えておきましょう。
「買う」｜「buy」は日用品などを買う
buy は日用品などやその他高価なものなどを買うことを表すときに使われる一般的な語。
食事の買い出し。 I bought a loaf of bread and strawberry jam at the supermarket yesterday. (昨日そのスーパーでパン一塊とイチゴジャムを買いました) ※ loaf「(型に入れるか一まとめにして焼いた)パンの一塊」
上手な買い物。 You can buy the same clothes at a thirty-percent discount off the regular price during a sale. (バーゲン中は同じ服が定価の３割引きで買えます) ※ discount「割引」

「買う」｜「purchase」は上品語、高価なものを交渉して購入
purchase は buy の上品語で高価なものを交渉して購入するようなことを表すときに使われる語。
マイホーム。 He purchased the land to build his own house. (彼は自宅を建てるためその土地を購入しました) ※ one’s own house[home] 「マイホーム」
マイホーム。 He is planning to prepare a deposit for the purchase of a condominium. (彼はマンション購入の頭金準備の計画をしています) ※ deposit「頭金」 condominium「マンション」
