「集める」|「gather」「collect」「assemble」「get together」の違いと使い方
何かを「集める」とき、計画的・選択的なものもあれば、非公式に「集まってくる」ものもある。英語の言い方を覚えておきましょう。
「集める」|「gather」は散らばっている物・人を集める
gather は近くに散らばっている物や人を一ヶ所に集めることを強調するときに使われる語。
gather は情報や証拠などを集めることを表すときにも使われる語。
昔の偉大なリーダー。
Tens of thousands of people gathered from all over Japan to mourn the great leader. （偉大な指導者の死を悼むため日本中から何万人もの人があつまりました）

collect は計画的に選択して別の場所にある物、別の場所にいる人を集めるときに使われる語。

assemble はある目的のために人が集まったり、物を集めることを表すときに使われる語。

全員集合。
All members of the team should assemble in the gym immediately. （すべての部員は今すぐ体育館に集合のこと）
知事選候補者たち。

「集める」|「get together」は非公式に集める
get together は上記の gather、collect、assemble よりもくだけた語で社交、協力、議論などの目的で非公式に人が集まったり、人を集めたりすることを表すときに使われる語。
同窓会。
We got together after a long interval and talked about our good old school days yesterday. （昨日は久しぶりに皆で集まり懐かしい学校時代のことを話し合いました）
田舎の村では、
The elderly people in the village get together once a week to have a chat about everyday life. (その村のお年寄りたちは週に一回寄り合って世間話をしている）
田舎の新入りは大変なこともある。
