With the advent of new imaging technology, our life continues to change
On December 1, so-called 4K and 8K ultrahigh-definition satellite television broadcasting in Japan began. But only about 10 percent of the total households in Japan have introduced TV sets supporting the service.
On the other hand, in the field of the medicine there was an epoch-making surgery.
The ultrahigh-definition 8K technology was used to perform endoscopic surgery on a rectal cancer patient at Asahikawa Medical University Hospital in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, on December 17.
The endoscopy system used in this surgery is equipped with an 8K camera. The resolution of the images the camera produces is 16 times that of conventional high-definition.
It is reported that the new system makes it easier for doctors to locate nerves and blood vessels on a monitor.
A doctor said that endoscopic surgeries will become safer and more accurate thanks to advancement of imaging technology .
It is safe to say that 8K technology will make broadcast more attractive, and it may prolong our lives, too.
