「達成する」｜「achieve」「attain」「accomplish」の違いと使い方
「達成する」を英語でいうとき、いくつかの語で言い方を使い分ける。
「達成する」｜「achieve」は困難を克服して成す
achieve は何かを成そうとするとき、困難を克服しその当然の結果として目標、成功、名声などを手にすることを表すときに使う語。言葉の響きとしてはややかたい感じがする。achieve のかわりに get が日常英語では使われることが多い。
苦難の末の成功者。「地位を築く」attain the position。
The president of the IT company has achieved the position he has today only after a great many trials.（そのIT企業の社長は幾多の試練に堪えて今日の地位を築いたのだ。）

アインシュタインのような人。「偉業を成し遂げる」achieve a feat。
The scientist achieved a feat that would go down in history. （その科学者は歴史に残る偉業を成し遂げた。）

The novelist went through hard times before he achieved popularity.（その小説家は売れっ子になるまでは大変な苦労をした。）

「達成する」｜「attain」は長期間の努力後に到達
attain は言葉としてはかたい感じがする語。長期間の努力の末に、ある水準、目標、地位などに到達することを表す。また年齢のように努力なしで自然と達成する場合に使われることもある。
歴史の一ページ。「独立を勝ち取る」attain independence。
America attained independence from England after a long war. （長い戦争の後、アメリカはイギリスから独立を勝ち取った。）

世の中にはこんな人がいる。「目的を遂げる」attain one’s goal。
The politician will stop at nothing to attain her goal. （あの政治家は目的を遂げるためには手段を選ばない。）

ある物語のエンディング。「幸せをつかむ」attain happiness。
The lonely little girl has attained happiness at last. （その小さな一人ぼっちの女の子はついに幸せをつかんだのでした。）

「達成する」｜「accomplish」は完結を強調
accomplish はややかたい感じのある語で、手段や過程より完結を強調する語。任務、仕事、変化、偉業などを達成することを表すときにこの語を使う。
ものごとは一つ一つ確実にやりましょう。「虻蜂取らず」accomplish nothing。
You might end up accomplishing nothing if you try to do two things at the same time. （２つのことを同時にしようとすると虻蜂取らずになる。）

ある会社の入社式での社長訓示。「輝かしい成果を上げる」accomplish marvelous results。
