When you visit Tokyo Skytree, the nearest stations are “Tokyo Skytree Station” on the Tobu Skytree Line and “Oshiage Station” on the Hanzomon Line.

Tokyo Skytree is famous as the world’s tallest self-supporting communications tower.  At the base of the tower, there are Tokyo Soramachi with 300 shops, planetarium, aquarium and Postal Museum Japan, and so on.

東京スカイツリーは、世界一高い自立式電波塔として有名です。また、スカイツリーを中心とした東西400mに広がる街もあり、さらに300店舗の東京ソラマチや、プラネタリウム、水族館、郵政博物館などがあります。

About Tokyo Skytree｜東京スカイツリーとは

Tokyo Skytree is television and radio broadcast site for the Kanto region.  It was built in 2012 as the world’s tallest self-supporting communications tower.  It is 634 meter tall.

東京スカイツリーは関東地方のテレビとラジオの放送を行う所です。2012年に世界一高い自立式電波塔として建てられました。高さは634メートルです。

It has two observatories,  one is at 350 m, and the other at 450 m.  These two observatories command a breathtaking panorama of Tokyo and its neighboring prefectures.

展望台は2つあり、1つは高さ350メートル、もう一つは高さ450メートルです。この２つの展望台からは東京都と近隣の県の息を飲むようなパノラマが堪能できます。

Thanks to this majestic broadcasting tower, the downtown areas are popular hub of international tourism.

この素晴らしい放送塔のおかげで、下町が国際観光の拠点として人気の場所となっています。

History of Tokyo Skytree｜スカイツリーの歴史

Before Tokyo Skytree, the older Tokyo Tower was the primary television and radio broadcast site for the Kanto region.   However, as Tokyo Metropolitan has developed more and more, Tokyo Tower is surrounded by high-rise buildings.  It no longer gives complete digital terrestrial television broadcasting coverage.

東京スカイツリーができる前は、東京タワーが関東地方のテレビやラジオ放送の主役でした。ところが、東京が発展するにつれ、東京タワーは高層ビル群に取り囲まれ、もはや地上デジタルテレビ放送を完全にカバーすることができなくなりました。

Tokyo Skytree was completed as a successor of Tokyo Tower on Leap Day, 29 February 2012.　Formal transmission of broadcast in channel 1 to 8, except 3, from Tokyo Skytree started on 31 May, 2013.

2012年うるう2月29日、東京スカイツリーが東京タワーを引き継ぐものとして完成しました。東京スカイツリーからの1チャンネルから8チャンネル(3チャンネルを除く)の正式放送は2013年3月31日に始まりました。

Point 1｜Basic Concepts of Tokyo Skytree-東京スカイツリーのコンセプト-

Tokyo Skytree has three basic concepts.  The first concept is fusion of futuristic design and the traditional beauty of Japan.  The second is revitalization of the city.  The third is contribution to safety and disaster prevention.　The design was published on 24 November, 2006.

東京スカイツリーには3つの基本概念があります。1つ目の概念は未来的なデザインと日本の伝統美の融合です。2つ目は都の活性化。3つ目は安全と防災への貢献です。そのデザインは2006年11月24日に発表されました。

Tokyo Skytree resembles a 5-story pagoda from historical Japan.　The tower has seismic proofing, including a central shaft made of reinforced concrete.

東京スカイツリーは歴史のある五重の塔によく似ています。鉄筋コンクリート製の心柱(中央の柱)があり、塔は耐震構造になっています。

The exterior lattice is painted a color officially called “Skytree White.”  This is an original color based on a bluish white traditional Japanese color called aijiro.

外側の格子は「スカイツリーホワイト」と正式に呼ばれる色で塗装されています。これは元々は「藍白」(あいじろ)と呼ばれる日本の伝統的な青みがかった白い色です。

Point 2｜Two Observation Decks-２つの展望台-

First Observation Deck is located at heights of 350 m and Second Observation Deck is located at heights of 450.  These two observation decks offer spectacular views out over Tokyo.

第一展望台は高さ350m、第二展望台は高さ450ｍのところにあります。この2つの展望台からの東京の眺めは素晴らしいものです。

The lower first deck spans three levels with great views from all of its floors.  The top floor features tall, broad windows, and you can see the best 360 panoramic views of Tokyo.  The middle floor has a souvenir shop and a restaurant, where you can enjoy French-Japanese fusion cuisine.  The lowest floor has a cafe and some glass panels on the ground.  Through the glass panels, you can look all the way down to the base of the tower.

低い方の第一展望台は3層になっておりどの階からも素晴らしい景色が見られます。上層階は高く幅の広い窓があり東京を360度見渡すことができます。中層階は土産屋とレストランがあり、フレンチと和食のミックスした味を楽しめます。下層階にはカフェがありまた床には数か所ガラスパネルがはめ込まれています。このガラス窓を通してスカイツリーの一番下まで見ることができます。

Point 3｜Tokyo Skytree, Now-東京スカイツリー最新情報-

Tokyo Skytree and Tokyo Skytree town.  Tokyo Skytree Twon was opened in May 2012.  It is a modern commercial center in the Sumida District.  Tokyo Skytree stands at its center.

東京スカイツリーと東京スカイツリータウン。東京スカイツリータウンは2012年5月に開業しました。墨田地区の現代的な商業の中心となっています。東京スカイツリーがその中心に立っています。

Around the base of Tokyo Skytree lies Tokyo Soramachi.  Tokyo Soramachi is a shopping and entertainment complex and has over 300 shops and restaurants.

東京スカイツリーの基部の回りにあるのが東京ソラマチです。東京そらまちは買い物と娯楽の建物になっており300以上の商店やレストランがあります。

If you have additional time you can also enjoy the attractive Tenku planetarium or Suimida Aquarium.  You can also feel relaxed in the multiple small green spaces and terraces found across the comlex.

時間に余裕があればさらに魅力的な天空プラネタリウムや墨田水族館を楽しむことができます。また建物中にあるたくさんの緑の空間やテラスでゆったりとした気分を味わうこともできます。

You must not miss Second Observation Deck of the Tokyo Skytree.

東京スカイツリーの第二展望台には必ず行きましょう。

Second Observation Deck consists of a sloping spiral ramp that gains height as it circles the tower.  The top of the spiral ramp is located at 451.2 m and constitutes the highest point of the observation decks.

第二展望台はらせん状に高さが増していくスロープになっています。らせん状のスロープの最上部は451.2mの高さにあり展望台の一番高い部分になっています。

We can look down from the dizzying height of the tower and out over the Kanto Region to spectacular distances.

目がくらむような高い塔から下を見下ろし、さらに関東地域を遥か遠くまで見渡すことができるのです。
